Our Daily Work
Care and Protection on Panarea
On the remote island of Panarea, we are the only charity offering year-round support to the island's stray animal. Every day, our volunteers look after their well-being - feeding, monitoring and caring for 150 cats across 13 colonies.
For the past two years, we have also been active on Stromboli, where our own veterinarian - a member of the association who lives on the island part of the year - allows us to spay, neuter and treat even more animals.
Our Origins
Born Out of Love for the Island
Panarea Ama Gli Animali was created by passionate local residents who witnessed the daily challenges faced by the island's stray cats.
What began as an informal act of solidarity became official in 2020, when we founded the association; since 2023 we have been registered with the RUNTS (Italy's National Register of the Third Sector), under the leadership of our President, Angela Mascolo.
Over more than 20 years of action, we have identified every feline colony on Panarea and carried out a long-running spay campaign: more than 500 cats treated so far. Kittens almost always find a home, on Panarea and across northern Italy, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers.
